There is something powerful about beginning the day with God. Before the noise of the world begins to compete for our attention, before the pressures of life weigh heavily upon us, there is a sacred moment in the morning when our hearts can be centered in the presence of the Lord. Songs For My Morning was born out of those sacred moments.

For 150 mornings at 6:30 a.m., I had the joy and privilege of gathering with the sweet members of Mount Neboh Baptist Church, along with many friends and supporters from near and far, no matter where I was in the world and time zone difference, for a morning devotional call centered around the Hebrew Song Book—the Book of Psalms. What began as a devotional journey soon became a spiritual lifeline for so many of us. Morning after morning, we prayed together, reflected together, cried together, rejoiced together, and found strength together in the timeless truths of God’s Word.
The Psalms have always held a unique place in the life of believers. They speak to every emotion and every season of life. In the Psalms, we find songs for the sorrowful, hymns for the hopeful, prayers for the perplexed, and praises for the victorious. Through David and the other psalmists, we discover that God welcomes our worship, our worries, our tears, and our thanksgiving. During these 150 days, the Psalms became our morning soundtrack—songs that lifted weary spirits, calmed troubled hearts, and reminded us daily of the faithfulness of God.
